Elena Delle Donne, “the friendly giant” as we call her, has been a highly valued mark for the DAC Pack ever since she made her homecoming to Delaware (sucks). If you don’t know the story of the 6 foot 5 inch gaurd (yes we said that correctly, gaurd) and how she came to play in the Bob it’s an interesting one. After being dubbed in highschool as the “female Lebron James”, she was recruited to UCONN. She couldn’t handle having to work for a spot on the team and got “homesick” (how anyone feels homesick for Delaware is beyond us). She then returned to go to the University of Sucks where she played volleyball for a year before finally ending up playing us twice a season. Every time she makes an appearance at the DAC she gets homesick really quick.
Side note: her dad is actually pretty cool and applauded us for cheering for our team and not just when one player shoots the ball. Seriously, come to a Drexel-Delaware game at the Bob Carpenter center. Everyone is quiet until Delle Donne does anything, including assists. There is no I in team, but apparently there is a Delle Donne.
